Thank God for football season huh!
-From a delivery driver in OKC. OK
So gas and wear and tear are free to you? The 124 miles you drove times the average cost to drive a car($.585)=$72.54 So in reality you only made $10.38 an hour. Still not horrible, but you are making it seems like us pizza drivers are making a killing when it reality it.s not a whole more then minimum wage.
I think it is clear what this accounting does and does not include. It includes wages, tips, and my per-run reimbursement.
It does not include any money I spend on gasoline, car maintenance & repairs, or any other automotive expenses.
It does not include laundry detergent used to wash my uniform.
It also does not include the value of whatever free food I eat (or sometimes take home to my family) on the nights that I work.
Finally, in response to chickiebits' comment, my car is paid in full and gets over 30 miles per gallon. It definitely does NOT cost me .585 cents per mile to operate it.
