Tips are way down in 2008.
My average tip in 2007 was $2.28. My average tip this year is $2.17. Seeing as I made almost 2000 deliveries in 2007, that is $220 a year or almost $20 / month decrease in pay. Coupled with the increased cost of fuel, this trend is making it difficult for me to justify keeping this 2nd job.
In 2007, I averaged less than $2 on 17% of my working nights. In 2008 I am getting less than $2 32% of the time!
In 2007 I got $2.50 or more 43% of my working nights. This year the number is down to just 18%.
I think I'm going to ask for a 20 cent / hour raise.
